"Mr President, I too want to add my congratulations to the rapporteur. This new Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) Programme brings together and builds upon three existing programmes: Progress, which will support public authorities, civil society and the social partners in promoting employment, social inclusion and equal opportunities; the Microfinance Facility, which is an important tool for providing loans of up to EUR 25 000 to help business start-ups, for example through Microfinance Ireland over the past couple of years; and the European Employment Services (EURES) System, which will connect job seekers and employers more effectively. There were 1.9 million jobs on the EURES portal this afternoon and, while I am extremely concerned about massive levels of emigration from my own country, Ireland, I think it is important that when young people wish to travel to gain experience in another country they have access to good information and good-quality jobs. EURES makes an important contribution to this. I specifically want to congratulate the rapporteur on her achievements. I welcome the fact that 20% of the EUR 500 million allocated to the Progress component must be used to support youth employment. The decision to enable social enterprises to access the Microfinance Facility for the first time is also very welcome. EaSI provides a tool for supporting jobs and inclusive social policies."@en1
