The Scottish National Party has long been opposed to nuclear energy and accordingly we acknowledge the need for decommissioning programmes. We believe however that long-term management of waste must be conducted near-surface and as near to site of production as possible. This precludes the export of waste to third countries – a possibility which my group has sought to prohibit."@en1
