Having said that, I just wanted to say that the debate yesterday was illuminating but also somewhat disconcerting. To people looking in, it would perhaps appear that the Council, the Commission and Parliament were fighting like little children. But the reality is that the Council does not seem to accept the fact that, under the Lisbon Treaty, we now have co-decision. We are, therefore, no longer in a position to be pushed around. For that reason, I hope the Council will wake up, accept its responsibilities, give us the budget that has been promised and let us get on with the work."@en1
