Recent observations proved the trend of extension of crime organisations’ operating range on an international scale. The number of international criminal organisations operating in the European Union is estimated to be around 3 600, most of which consist of members from several countries who operate across borders exploiting the opportunities offered by economic globalisation. To better fight organised crime in Europe and promote more credible criminal justice, more honest business practices, and more efficient public administration, I voted in favour of this proposal."@en1
