"It is estimated that human trafficking generates a profit of EUR 25 billion a year and that the number of forced labourers in the EU is 888 000. The report sets out a road map that goes a long way to: (1) defining criminal acts, including involvement in mafia-style organisations and self-laundering; (2) abolishing bank secrecy; (3) eliminating tax havens; (4) promoting the seizure and confiscation of criminal assets; (5) criminalising sports-rigging; (6) introducing appropriate penalties for cybercrime; (7) eradicating trafficking in human beings and forced labour. We must step up the fight against organised crime and I would like to signal my appreciation for all the work done by the rapporteur, Salvatore Iacolino, on this comprehensive report. As a member of the CRIM special committee I have voted in favour of it."@en1
