These subsidies were discontinued before the last agreement on the common fisheries policy and to restore them would have been a retrograde step and would have undermined all our good work in the common fisheries policy 2014 to 2020. I am pleased that my group, ALDE, were the difference in this vote. We want sustainable fisheries and we want to support fishermen and women in the future. In this report we said yes to support for Produce Associations, yes to training of young fisherpersons, yes to Maximum Sustainable Yield, yes to money for data collection and yes to gear change but no to subsidies for fleet renewal."@en1
