"I voted in favour of this report. Medical devices comprise more than half a million different products, ranging from adhesive bandages to pacemakers. The European market is estimated to be around EURÂ 100 billion annually. The current legislation on medical devices was introduced in the 1990s and a review of the legislation was planned for many years. However recent scandals, especially the one concerning breast implants, showed the need for urgent reform. This is an important issue for my constituents in Wales and I have received several letters in relation to this."@en1
