lpv:translated text	"I welcome the establishment of Eurosur, which will become fully operational from December 2014 and will assist the competent authorities of the Member States to carry out border surveillance activities in a more efficient manner. It is a vital step towards stopping illegal immigration in a democratic way with respect for the principle of freedom of movement. Eurosur will also contribute to protecting and saving the lives of migrants – a positive outcome of improvement in the surveillance system – and will help to prevent tragic events such as the recent Lampedusa boat disaster. Another positive effect will be to increase internal security by helping to prevent cross-border crimes, a field in which the National Coordination Centres for border surveillance will have a significant role."@en1
