It is also important that we move away from this idea that one size fits all. For this reason, I and members of my Group supported the measures here because it is all about cooperation, it is all about sharing data, firstly to protect our own borders but secondly to make sure we avoid a repeat of the tragedies that we have seen when people try to get in illegally or with smuggling. At the same time, we must make sure that when sharing data we get the right balance between security, civil liberties and individual liberty. Let us make sure that we continue to use this model of cooperation. At the same time, let us make sure that we do not impinge on the civil liberties of citizens within the EU, but also citizens from non-EU countries coming into the EU."@en1
