lpv:translated text	"Due to their geographical features, maritime jurisdictions in the Mediterranean and Black Seas are particularly complex. The number of states and their relative positions create new boundaries that impact on coastal states’ and third countries’ access to use of the living resources. This own-initiative report seeks to cover all these aspects by encouraging, for instance, the establishment of maritime zones, in particular exclusive zones and protected maritime areas, which will not only improve fisheries conservation and management beyond territorial waters but will also promote sustainable fisheries resources, facilitate the control of and fight against illegal unreported and unregulated fishing, as well as improving marine management within these basins.
