lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, over the last decade since the introduction of the Tobacco Products Directive we have had attempts at a reduction in the numbers of smokers, but there is a much higher rate of tobacco use among our youth. Like my colleague Mairead McGuinness, I would like to see a very big reduction. I think the legislative review is an essential instrument to keep improving public health in the face of a scourge. We do want to see three quarters of cigarette packs covered with health warnings and a ban on flavourings and an end to the attractive slim cigarette formats. Whilst plain packaging and point-of-sale display bans failed to secure a majority in the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, nothing in this legislation prevents EU Member States from taking these and further measures. I hope many will be following the good example set by Ireland on this front."@en1
