"Mr President, in all sectors across the EU, maximising our research and innovation potential means we can deliver competitive, high-quality and sustainable services, and the transport sector is no exception.
However, the principle of subsidiarity must remain foremost in our consideration of the Commission’s communication on European transport technology strategy. I am concerned that this report points to the initiatives which would be best formulated and executed by the Member States themselves. Having regularly witnessed the quality and breadth of research and development taking place in my own constituency of Wales alone, I am confident in Member States’ ability to deliver leading high-tech mobility options for our constituents. Therefore I could not support this report as formulated."@en1
