lpv:spoken text	"There are currently around 16 million international couples in the EU, with 13% of marriages in 2007 having an "international element." It is for this reason that I support the clarification of property rights for such couples in cases involving immovable property following death, legal separation or divorce. Also, I am aware that new rules in this area could save around 400m EUR per year in additional legal costs for international couples, which is a worthwhile saving, and should be pursued. These savings have encouraged me to support the creation of rules to govern which court should have jurisdiction to deal with such disputes, and which law should apply, with a mechanism put in place for the recognition and enforcement of court judgements throughout the EU"@en1
