This report proposes what amounts to the first stage of harmonising the law relating to the property – real and personal – of a registered partnership with the regime applicable to matrimonial property. My party opposes such legislation, not least because this form of harmonisation is leading to the Europeanization of our laws relating to matrimonial causes and those applicable to registered partnership. These measures also represent a step along the road towards the secularisation and ultimate destruction of the concept of marriage. It is for these reasons that I voted against this report."@en1
