"Mr President, can I just endorse my colleague’s comments about procedure, and also on the situation in Camp Ashraf? We accept that there is urgency in all these proposals but we believe that Ashraf represents a particular situation. Just to remind you, colleagues: on 1 September, 52 residents were shot dead by Iraqi forces, some at point blank range and some lying on hospital beds waiting for operations. Hostages have been taken and we have no information about them. So our plea is that we should debate this vital issue. We need to have a resolution so that we can have a thorough investigation, so that the perpetrators are brought to justice and safeguards put in place and, indeed, so that Member States accept responsibility and give residents some form of refugee status in their country. I would therefore propose that we vote between Ashraf or the decision of the Conference of Presidents. The order does matter and I beg colleagues to support my proposal."@en1
