"Madam President, like other speakers here this morning, I want to raise the problem of awareness of 112 numbers, because one out of five Irish people quoted an incorrect number when asked whether they knew what number to dial in an emergency. While the level of awareness has increased over the past few years we do need to keep spreading the word about this very simple and potentially life-saving three-digit number, especially as increasing numbers of young people are leaving to work and study on the continent. The Commission must remain alert to implementation shortcomings and take action to broaden access to alternatives to voice calls for disabled users. Mobile network coverage gaps in remote and rural areas, as mentioned by other colleagues, remain an issue of serious concern. I wish, finally, to pay tribute to my colleague, Ms Sehnalová, for her work on automated vehicle calls in case of accidents and urge the Commission to act upon her conclusions."@en1
