"Mr President, when the revelations about PRISM etc. broke, the phrase ‘with friends like these, who needs enemies?’ came to mind and certainly I think that there is an onus on the United States authorities to explain what happened, preferably by either President Obama or Mr Kerry coming before this House, so that we can have an open discussion. Secondly, I do not agree with people who say that we should postpone dialogue with the United States, either at TLD level or at TTIP level, in relation to the forthcoming partnership agreement. I think this shows that there is an urgent need to have the specific discussions between Members of this House and their counterparts in the United States which the TLD offers. Also I would say that when we discuss issues of breaches of human rights right across the world, be it in North Korea, Iran or elsewhere, the one point we always make is that we need to maintain dialogue. Dialogue is the way we will solve this problem, not postponement."@en1
