"I voted in favour of today's resolution on the situation in Hungary due to the severity of and worrying repercussions of the actions initiated by the current Hungarian government who have infringed on the rights of minorities and the independence of the judiciary, to name but a few. However I believe it is the role of the council to monitor this situation, not the Commission who are not elected. This is why I abstained on RCVs relating to the role of the European Commission."@en1
