"I voted in favour of today’s resolution in support of the deal achieved last week on the MFF (2014-2020). This agreement will allow much-needed investment in jobs and growth, research and innovation and will provide an increase of GBP 131 million in Structural Funds for Wales over the seven years. This funding will be used to generate jobs, growth and training across the country and I am pleased that Wales has managed to avoid a GBP 400m cut in funding that was originally foreseen. Voting against this decision would lead to a delay in releasing EU funds and would, without doubt, have a detrimental effect on Wales. We need to make sure that EU funds are made available as soon as possible in order to have the greatest impact on people across Wales. I am disappointed that I was the only Welsh MEP to support the deal and the extra funding for Wales. I believe this goes against the interests of Welsh citizens and the UK as a whole."@en1
