lpv:spoken text	"I supported this oral question. I welcome the initiation of the Social Investment Package. However I believe, we must emphasise the importance of the social dimension of the Economic and Monetary Union if the Package is to progress with optimal consideration of the needs of European citizens. I support the proposed inclusion of a social pillar within the EMU to foster an economic, monetary and social union for future generations. Many Member States have yet to overcome their fiscal imbalances and increasing austerity is gravely impacting upon essential public services. Economic growth and stability is necessary for the future of Europe. However, we must not neglect the weakening social dimensions of the Union. We must rethink present policies and strengthen governance in the social field with the end goal of generating targeted investment in education, social protection and employment."@en1
