Although the UK is not in Schengen, the better protection of borders would stop criminals and illegal migrants entering the UK. If strict border control was to be re-established, I am pretty sure that the level of transnational crime and illegal immigration would drop enormously. I cannot agree with the rapporteur that migration per se is not a threat to public policy and national security – I believe that we have to be fully aware of who is entering our country and for what purpose."@en1
