"Often women are the ones who have to make the sacrifice of taking a career or educational break in order to follow their partner abroad to work. Furthermore, given the economic crisis, the female unemployment rate has risen and wage differences between men and women have increased. Professional and occupational mobility should therefore be made easier for women and the conditions more favourable to enable women to want to take up these opportunities. Women can make a positive contribution to the economy and it is important that jobs are accessible to all and this means no inequality in the labour market. As the report highlights, there are several obstacles still facing women and women should be represented more in senior positions and on boards and there should be a reduction of ‘brain-waste’ amongst women due to under-use of qualifications possessed by women moving abroad. An additional point which I welcome and which is stressed in the report is that professional mobility should not disadvantage women with regard to social rights. The continuation and transfer of rights under the social security system between countries should be guaranteed. I wholeheartedly agree with the contents of the report and voted in favour."@en1
