"I voted for the overall negotiating mandate but I was very disappointed that neither of the transparency amendments was carried. The amendment which asked for all documents to be made public was defeated, as was the amendment requesting the final mandate documents to be publically available. This is a retrograde step by Parliament and will only serve to increase voter concerns about a number of issues. An EU/US trade deal has real potential but equally it poses many challenges. Negotiations behind closed doors are of no help in this context."@en1
