"The Irish Government has previously agreed to enter into discussions in good faith on a CCCTB, while holding serious concerns as regards its effect on Ireland. I strive to maintain a strong S&D Group on economic issues and today have voted for this report on tax evasion and tax fraud, including calls for a CCCTB in the EU. Any implementation of such a proposal must take fully into account the views of the Irish Government as regards our competitive position as a small island nation off the west coast of Europe. Ireland uses tax policy as a key competitive advantage which attracts much needed quality jobs and tax revenue. Any EU moves in the area of tax must take account of the effect on smaller Member States, like Ireland, in difficult economic times."@en1
