"I voted in favour of the monitoring report on Croatia. The biggest challenge facing Croatia currently is the fight against corruption and organised crime, and the need for stronger legislation upgrading the judicial system. Croatia must also prepare itself properly for EU funds and keep the banking sector stable. My group tabled amendments stressing the need to fight corruption and tackle discrimination, as well as recognising that Croatia is largely, but not totally, on track to meet EU requirements. As a strongly European nations, Wales has solidarity with those wishing to join the EU, and particularly small, independent countries. Our aspiration is that Wales will become a member state of the EU in its own right to reap the full benefits of European cooperation."@en1
