It is the power of the future, but it is also important that we learn the lessons of the past and look at past accidents and try and make sure that they do not happen again. Therefore, I support the nuclear stress tests. However, I do not support the power grab by this Parliament. European policy on nuclear energy is not a competence of this Parliament under the Euratom Treaty or under the European Treaty. Therefore, I voted against this report, which called for more power for the European Parliament."@en1
