"I voted against the single CMO Regulation. As a British Conservative Member of the European Parliament, I believe that a competitive and productive agricultural sector is more important than ever. I represent many farmers in the North-West of England, and this proposal will clearly be taking my region’s highly productive agricultural sector backwards. This is totally unacceptable. I see this as a clear a situation where more Europe will damage the development of a competitive, efficient and market-orientated European agricultural industry. I find it appalling that so many Members of the European Parliament on the Agriculture Committee voted to exempt agriculture from EU Competition law. This clearly calls into question the credibility and trustworthiness of EU decision making with industry, consumers and taxpayers. We need a modern proposal that is fit for the 21st century, not one taking British farmers back decades."@en1
