"I support this directive, which calls for alternative dispute resolution to be made accessible to all European consumers. Resolving disputes between consumers and businesses can sometimes involve lengthy and expensive court cases but by having good quality ADR systems in place, the process could be simplified and made faster and more affordable. As well as improving the system for consumers and traders throughout the EU, the online economy could also be boosted by an improvement in the framework. The Commission’s proposals look at improving the way that disputes involving the sale of goods or provision of services are resolved across the EU. This directive goes further and is more ambitious than the Commission’s proposals and it has my full backing."@en1
