"The ECR group wholeheartedly supports the work and promotion of Human Rights throughout the EU and the World, as well as the work of the UNHRC. It is essential that Europe along with its international partners works to promote freedom, equality and democracy for all. The ECR group voted in favour of this report, and supports the Parliament's position with regard to the Arab Spring, LGBT rights, the rights of religious minorities, freedom fighters, the fight for equality for women and the protection of children around the world, amongst others. However, the ECR does believe that there has been excessive criticism directed at democratic Members of the UNHRC; we cannot accept paragraphs 31 and 32, aimed at Israel, in particular. We also believe that certain issues are the preserve of Member States, such as social rights and migrant workers, and that the death penalty in democratic nations is a matter of conscience for each Member of Parliament."@en1
