"Mr President, we have had problems with the technical standards on EMIR, both in terms of the technical content, procedural cooperation and timing. I thank the Commissioner for engaging with us on this matter, coming up with the declaration and being prepared to address the technical issues that we have identified, as well as for the Commissioner's assurance that there will be a better cooperation on procedures going forward.
I can also say that, with regard to some of the matters on timing, I have already taken steps today to begin to incorporate some more safeguards into level-1 texts. So this is terra nova, as the Commissioner has said, and an ongoing matter.
I have received some verbal and written assurances that the problems will be addressed through the Commission publishing frequently asked questions and the responses to those. I am also expecting a follow-up in amended technical standards in due course. On that basis, and on behalf of the committee and the EMIR rapporteur, Werner Langen, I am withdrawing this resolution."@en1
