"I voted against this report as it calls for the Commission to establish a ‘European Guarantee Platform’ under the European Investment Fund which would socialise the debt of private businesses (SMEs) and ultimately put the taxpayers’ money at risk. I also object to several of the new funding opportunities outlined in the report. For example, it calls on the Commission to provide a new legislative framework for issuers of funding to SMEs – to me, this move is completely unnecessary and would eat up a great deal of money that would be better spent by the UK Government in supporting British SMEs."@en1
