"Mr President, David Cameron has said that we need to create a leaner, less bureaucratic Union relentlessly focused on helping its Member States to compete. We all know how important SMEs are to the economies of our countries.
I was pleased to support this report because it dealt with three important issues for SMEs. Firstly, red tape and bureaucracy, which cripples any small company, as we know. Secondly, late payment which is causing problems financially for companies to keep afloat. Thirdly, the report recognises the importance of women in SMEs and how they should be nurtured and encouraged to go forward.
We must support SMEs and we must use tailor-made EU funding programmes to ensure that recovery for our countries’ economies takes place with this asset that we all have."@en1
