"I have supported the Resolution calling on the European Commission not to withdraw its Mark of Origin proposal and for the European Council to finally accept them. I have fought for 15 years, on behalf of the West Midlands ceramics industry, for such a proposal to enter into force and to include ceramics. I will certainly not give up now, because of the reluctance of some Member States. Ceramic producers want it. Trade unions want it. The European Commission and the European Parliament want it. The decision now rests with the UK and the other member states of the EU as to whether we seriously want to protect the industry and its jobs and give consumers a real choice. Let us make the protection of our industries and our consumers through EU solidarity the best example of why the UK is better off in the EU."@en1
