However, we abstained during the vote on the resolution on the situation in the country. While pointing out numerous valid and important issues, like the urgent need to improve the dire situation of Christians, to combat enormous corruption, or to resolve humanitarian problems facing the ordinary people, the text unfortunately is not critical enough on the policies of the Al-Maliki government. We cannot forget about his close ties with regimes in Iran and in Syria, active engagement in supplying arms for the Assad regime or lack of commitment to improving the living conditions in Camp Ashraf and Camp Hurriya."@en1
