I must make the point, however, that what consumers want to know is the country of origin. They want to see ‘made in England’, ‘made in France’, ‘made in Italy’, ‘made in Germany’, ‘made in Denmark’ and so on. There may even be a few consumers who want to see ‘made in Romania’, but what consumers do not want to see is ‘made in the EU.’ This is why I am expressing the hope – but it is only a hope, and I suspect a vain hope – that these rules are not going to be another device to put us on the road to a European super-state."@en1
