"Mr President, the severity of the eurozone crisis means that we must all look to options to restoring stability, including eurobonds – although, as this report states, they are not the miracle cure. Member States must assume responsibility for payment of their debts. However, I am not able to support this report; I believe that it goes too far by calling for fiscal own resources as well as common EU debt.
The report also states that the refusal of a federal solution has a cost. I say the cost of accepting federal solutions is even greater. There can be no question in our mind that the single currency was a step towards a federal superstate. I am glad the UK did not take this step. Eurozone countries are now faced with the choice of integration or disintegration. These countries should think carefully about whether a far-reaching economic and political union is what they really want."@en1
