"Of course I am concerned about the future of the euro, but there are 27 Members in the European Union and 17 in the euro, and that has been true ever since the Mastricht Treaty 20 years ago. It is the anniversary now of when the UK said they would not join the euro, but our future economically is very important and it is linked. If you want to do protectionist measures – and I am afraid I view gagging rating agencies and telling them that there are limitations on how often they can issue warnings to the markets as a gag – then that should not happen across all 27 different countries. It is a little example, but yet another example. I do not want to leave the single market but, if you force us to leave it, because you try to put the rules for the euro on the whole of Europe, then you end up forcing the UK out."@en1
