lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, the protection of intellectual property in general safeguards and encourages creativity, innovation and enterprise. This particular report deals with the protection and preservation of genetic diversity and in common with our work on other committees, our concerns on environmental and species biodiversity, genetic diversity must be protected. My group supports effective measures combating bio-piracy but we do have some serious concerns. To mention just one, we have major reservations about the calls for prior informed consent and mandatory requirements on disclosing the origin of genetic resources during patent proceedings. We also believe that further work must be carried out to clarify and consolidate the legal terminology in this area. As interest and legislation in this area grow, this legal terminology is extremely important."@en1
