"Mr President, CoderDojo – has anybody heard of it? Well if you want to find out more, come to demonstration 7R, which I am hosting in the European Parliament on Tuesday 29 January 2013, between 13.00 and 16.00 in Room 3E2. CoderDojo was founded in Cork in my constituency over a year ago as a way of bringing young people together in a fun atmosphere under voluntary mentors in order to develop their skills in coding and show them how to develop apps, games, websites etc., and eventually become technology entrepreneurs. Despite the great unemployment in Europe, there is a great shortage of coders and developers of websites, particularly for coders. So I would ask people to come on that particular day. It was founded by two entrepreneurs, Bill Liao and James Whelton, and I think that if people had the opportunity to establish a CoderDojo in their own constituency, it would do them and their young people a power of good."@en1
