"On my recent fact-finding mission to the West Bank I saw very clearly the effect of the Israeli settlements on Palestinian towns and villages and on Jerusalem itself. I learned in some detail of the Israeli Government’s expansion plans for the settlements, which would undermine the prospects of a viable Palestinian state. I have regular meetings with groups and individuals in Wales who share my concern and many of whom have visited Palestine themselves. There is an active Palestine solidarity network in Wales. As a supporter of the two-state solution, I am deeply concerned at recent announcements and of the actions by the Israeli Government in withholding Palestinian tax revenues. I believe that the EU can do more to help relaunch a peace process and I therefore voted for this motion."@en1
