"I voted against this report that aimed to change groundhandling services at airports. The Commission proposed to increase the number of groundhandlers at airport and set the minimum training period at two days. Plaid Cymru’s group in Parliament worked closely with the European Transport Workers Federation to oppose these changes. This trade union represents workers in the transport sector in Wales through its affiliated organisations GMB, Unison and PCS. The way to improve groundhandling practices in airports such as Cardiff is to invest more in training for those members of staff who have already been employed. Parliament as a whole voted to refer the report back to the committee, where transport workers’ unions will be further consulted on the best way forward."@en1
