"Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of our economy in Wales. Plaid Cymru’s policy is to provide support for them to grow and create new employment. The One Wales government successfully used European funding to set up schemes to maintain jobs and to provide training for those at risk. Procurement policies can also help local businesses. However, unfair trading practices from third countries would have a negative affect on SMEs. Therefore, whilst not objecting to support for SMEs to be active beyond Member State borders in principle, I abstained on this initiative report."@en1
