When we talk about SMEs, I always feel it is something of a misnomer. ‘Small and medium’ does not strike you as being big. In actual fact we are talking about 99% of businesses in Europe, so we are talking about nearly all companies. For that reason, having them working online in cross-border trading is absolutely vital, and that is why this report is so important. It would make a huge difference not just to jobs and growth but also to the quality of life of citizens if we could move the digital agenda forward. The points he makes are absolutely relevant.
