The report is based on the correct assumption that the effects of climate change can exacerbate existing conflicts. However, the solution to these conflicts cannot involve an escalation of the arms race that creates an infinite capacity for killing. The report also proposes the use of funds from the European Union budget for military ends, closer cooperation between NATO and the European Union and the inclusion of military elements in climate policy and their integration with energy policy. I consider this report to mark a real push ahead with the EU’s strategy of militarisation and therefore voted against it."@en1
