lpv:translated text	"I voted in favour of this report because the enlargement process has a significant impact on the EU itself, serving as an opportunity to better define its identity, goals, values and policies, and also as a suitable moment to better communicate these to its citizens. I believe that it is important for the EU and the candidate countries to respect all of their obligations and commitments and create the conditions for ensuring the success of future enlargements, inter alia by assisting the countries concerned in their efforts to meet the criteria for EU accession. I believe that enlargement policy is a credible policy and compliance with the Copenhagen criteria continues to constitute a fundamental basis of EU membership and the Union’s integration capacity must be duly taken into account. I believe that candidate and potential candidate countries need to make improvements in the fields of democracy, human rights, and reconciliation processes, areas which should always be given priority in the enlargement process and reflected in the financial instruments."@en1
