I welcome the Commission’s proposal on a multiannual plan and I believe that it would lead to more efficient management of fishing in the Baltic Sea. Extending the scope to all forms of fishing, including recreational fishing, is a welcome move since that recreational fishing is becoming more popular. Greater controls of fishing activities in the Baltic Sea countries is essential for the effective monitoring of all catches. This would ensure greater transparency, benefit the environment and make fishing sustainable."@en1
