Fishing is, traditionally and culturally, one of the main activities is the European Union and it is an important sector for the economy. I believe that the exploitation of fishing stocks should take into account the quality of the final product, without intervening unnecessarily in the ecosystem. From this point of view, the present report is clearly a step forward for sustainability in this area. The European Union must focus on competitiveness and productivity in the fishing sector while protecting the European ecosystems and biosphere."@en1
