lpv:translated text	"Mr President, I voted in favour of the resolution because I, too, believe that the European Parliament elections must be more closely linked to the election of the President of the Commission. The Commission must be formed on democratic principles; its President must play a more active role in the European Parliament election campaign. In this way, he or she will be able to convey their vision for the future of the Union, and the citizens will also be able to vote for the parties’ candidate for the Commission Presidency. Choosing the best option for the Commission will require time and we should think about bringing the elections forward by a month in. The gender balance within the Commission should be considered more carefully, even though the competence criteria should remain paramount.
