The figures show that a number of issues need to be examined and we all – Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control, the President of the Court of Auditors and the Commission – need to attend very carefully to our own areas of responsibility, to ensure that we always achieve the best possible results. Furthermore, the Member States have a very important role to play and must take on a task that, in my opinion, is vital if we are to succeed in ensuring that the results achieved and the image we convey when allocating funds are as good as they can possibly be.
