"The Committee on Petitions notes with concern the increasing number of petitions and other submissions from citizens seeking legal and financial redress on issues that fall outside the EU’s area of competence, such as, for example, requests to review the calculation of national pensions and to overrule decisions by national courts. The number of inadmissible petitions continued to be significant in 2011, indicating that Parliament should increase its effort to inform citizens of the limits of its field of action. Efforts need to be stepped up to provide better information to direct citizens’ concerns to the right interlocutor. The Committee on Petitions’ call to improve its web portal on the European Parliament’s website is also important."@en1
